Atlanta Braves Organization Review

Atlanta Braves Organization Review

Over the next three weeks, I will be publishing organization overviews for every MLB team. Each post will be a deep dive into all levels of the organization and picking out fantasy relevant nuggets. The primary focus will be at the MLB level and trying to uncover players I want to target in upcoming drafts, but I am playing in a few dynasty leagues and want to try to highlight some players to stash or keep an eye out for upcoming trades.

Picks For 2023

Players I like in fantasy drafts given their current price. All ADPs are from the last two months of NFC data.

Michael Harris (27.7 ADP) - Harris in the third round is such a great pick. He's going around JT Realmuto, Lindor, and Altuve who have similar power/speed profiles but Harris is doing it with .300 AVG and unlike Altuve, is only 22 years old.

Ozzie Albies (48.9 ADP) - I like Jazz Chisholm and Luis Robert more, but they're going just before Albies who is also an excellent option at this stage of draft. He's entering his age 26 season and there's no reason to think he still isn't the 30 HR/20 SB player from two years ago.

Fades For 2023

Players I don't love at current ADP.

Sean Murphy (112.9 ADP) - This is less because of Murphy's skillset and more because of the presence of Travis d'Arnaud. With the exception of the Toronto situation, no other catcher going in the Top 10 has such a quality backup. I'm not sure the playing time is going to be there for Murphy to justify this ADP.

Kyle Wright (122.6 ADP) - Feels like you are overpaying for his 21 wins in 30 starts last year. I would prefer Freddy Peralta or Jesus Luzardo who are going 20+ picks later.

MLB Breakout Player(s)

Players I like to outperform expectations

Ian Anderson (548.1 ADP) - Mike Soroka is getting the nod for the fifth starter spot on RosterResource and that's causing his ADP to rise, but I think Anderson is a name to watch. His walks were up and strikeouts were down last year in the same number of innings as 2021. I like him returning closer to his 2021 form and netting a big return for those who roster him.

Favorite Prospects Outside Top 5

Prospects outside of MLB.com's Top 5 that I want to target in dynasty leagues.

Dylan Dodd - His lack of upside keeps him off the top of prospect lists, but Dodd profiles as a solid backend starter who should get to the Majors quickly. Drafted in the 3rd round of 2021, Dodd reached AAA last year after solid performances at Hi-A and AA.

Tyler Tolve - A catching prospect who showed out well offensively in his debut season, Tolve has me very interested. I expect an aggressive assignment in 2023 and his stock could really take off if he continues to produce.

Bullpen

Here is how I would rank the arms in the bullpen. This considers a mix of projected role and talent/likelihood of taking over the closers role.
